We have written permission from Amazon to perform A/B tests and they have assured us that seller accounts will not be banned due to changing product details frequently. Here’s the proof.
The bottom line is that your products are not optimized for maximum sales.
Are you sure your primary image performs best? How do you know your pricing is correct? Maybe you should reduce the price a little bit to increase conversions, without eating into your profit margin. Or maybe you should increase your prices. Unless you test, you just don’t know.
You may test images, the title, the description, the standard price, the sale price and the features (or bullets). You may test more than one field in each variant for multivariate testing.

You cannot edit your product details while a test is in progress. This is because we rotate through the variants periodically – and changing your products manually will invalidate the test.
In our opinion, a listing can never truly be fully optimized, or at the very least, you have to revisit your optimization strategy every so often, because there are so many moving parts on Amazon. For this reason we recommend running continuous tests, and having Profit Peak consistently looking for your best known price.
Sometimes this happens – for example you will test a different image and the results will not be statistically significant, or the new image will perform worse than the original. This is still very useful information to have and you would never make progress with optimization if you didn’t keep on testing 🙂
